7Tigers a écrit : sam. avr. 11, 2020 5:52 pm Basé sur OpenQuest, Osprey devrait sortir à la rentrée Jackals: Bronze Age Fantasy Roleplaying
A Sword & Sorcery roleplaying game set in a Fantasy Bronze Age inspired by the legends and cultures of the Ancient Near East.

The Zaharets, the land between the Vori Wastes and the Plains of Aeco, is well-known as the Land of Risings. Dominated by the rising city-states of Ameena Noani and Sentem, facing each other along the great War Road, the Zaharets has always been home to powerful civilizations. Beastmen ruins dot the landscape, a constant reminder of the Kingdom of Sin and the fragility of the Law of Men. Even older are the great ruins of the Hulathi, the legendary sea peoples, and the Hannic mansions sealed beneath the mountains, awaiting those who would seek out the Lost Folk. Scars abound from the wars between ruined Keta in the north and Gerwa in the south. And, far to the east, the legends of Muadah still beckon occultists and Jackals who seek to plunder its corrupted ruins.

Inspired by the myths, cultures, and history of the Ancient Near East, and by such ancient texts as the Iliad, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and the Old Testament, Jackals is a Sword & Sorcery roleplaying game set in a Fantasy Bronze Age. With mechanics based on the popular OpenQuest system, the game places players in the role of Jackals - adventurers, explorers, sellswords, and scavengers - and sends them out into the peril-filled land of the Zaharets to make their fortune. or perhaps fulfill a greater destiny.

Avec une campagne prévue pour 2021:
Jackals - the Fall of the Children of Bronze: A Grand Campaign for Jackals
The Fall of the Children of Bronze is a grand campaign for Jackals, and includes 30 adventures spanning 15 years. Players will explore the ancient myths and legends of the War Road, from the bustling streets of Ameena Noani in the north and Sentem in the south, to abandoned temples in the wastes, and mansions deep within the earth. They will encounter beings and powers from the past – ancient but far from dormant – and come face to face with the hidden hand that would the Law of Men torn down and chaos brought to the Zaharets.

Quelques info:
OpenQuest is the core of the rules system. As for why OQ and not 13th Age, I love d100 gaming, and for Kalypsis—the setting of Jackals—the super heroic nature of 13th Age was not a good fit. I tried several other systems (d20 based) while developing the setting and none fit the setting and theme as well as my old love OQ!

I ended up with some minor changes to character creation and combat options. Looking at the ANE epic poems, I wanted something that felt like the back and forth combat of Homer and others. So. I built a Clash mechanic. You have a pool of points to turn attacks into opposed rolls, which if you win, you deal damage to the attacker. Monsters have a smaller pool of points to do the same thing. There are also other ways to spend these points to affect rolls, damage, and other things. Playtesters seem to like all the interaction and choices.

Magic is lower in Jackals and the rites (spells) are unique. They are tied to culture and traditions. The setting is humanocentric, with cultural skill bonuses for the culture you are from. The setting, the cultures, the religions are all very analogous to their historical counterparts: Luathi (Israel post-Exodus), Ger (Egypt), Trauj (desert tribes), and Melkoni (Greek).

As for influences and origins—I have a love of fantasy and the ANE world & languages—so I wanted to blend the two for the setting. I also run a lot of Glorantha, so fantasy Bronze Age is in my gaming DNA. Thematic influences for the setting and campaign include: the Baal cycle, the books of Judges and Samuel, Gilgamesh, Homer, the Hittite cycles, and Bakker’s Second Apocalypse.

News du jour par Jason Dural côté Chaosium:
RuneQuest Fantasy Europe is still a concern, and we're leading with a new version of Mythic Iceland. Other books are in development.
It's been on a bit of a backburner as the line was planned before we took over Pendragon, 7th Sea, and Aquelarre, so we need to make sure that the line has its own particular look and feel.
We're also finding it useful to make sure that all of the relevant bits of RQ Glorantha are complete so we can build on that.

https://gitlab.com/NHcthulhu/NewHorizon/
New Horizon is a game about humanity’s spread into our solar system and the horrors we discover as we go there.
It is an exciting mix of Blade Runner universe, Aliens movies, Lovecraftian horror and hard science-fiction.
The scope of New Horizon is contained to a fantastical setting that is still familiar to us – our solar system, from Mercury out to the frontier of the Kuiper Belt.
Earth is still the center of the universe, home to all mankind, but millions of people dwell in colonies and space stations spread throughout the solar system and beyond.
Spaceships travel between the worlds, using technology that propels them from world to world in a matter of weeks or months, instead of years.
Despite the fact that the nations of the solar system are united in a way never before thought possible, the vast distances that separate the colonies of humanity create a sense of isolation.
The journeys through the black are long and lonely.
There are many who find this isolation difficult to deal with, especially given the things that now roam in the dark.
New Horizon is a couple hundred years into the future. In terms of its influences, the setting is approximately equivalent to the technology presented in such movies as Total Recall, After Earth, Outland, Starship Trooper, Avatar, Elysium, Predator, Doom, Pandorum, Event Horizon or The Expanse TV series.

Lords Of The Middle Sea, le jeu de rôles. Basé sur le wargame post-apocalyptique de Lynn Willis sorti en 1978 chez Chaosium.
". . . that above the drowned lands, the Middle Sea as is known to men, or else as the Shroud. It buoys we of the Salvar, its issue strengthens our bellies, it alike washes storm womb and the ashy roots of the Forges, it salutes the steaming Godwall and the last island Wardom before the Greater Sea, it guards us well from the lost lands where iron walked . . ."

"In the year 2401, players will guide the fortunes of nations as the Emperor of the Nahuas, the President of Mexico, the First Rider of TransWyoming, or as the Fisher of Wardoms -- The Lords of the Middle Sea."

A post-apocalyptic wargame played on a map of an inundated North America. Only the tops of mountain ranges are usable land. A sci-fi mix of galleons, dirigibles, and medieval troops.
Image

Jason Durall:
The players will take on the roles of a crew of either a airship or a watercraft or some kind of land vehicle and basically it's a sort of trying to find your way and survive in this crazy post-apocalyptic setting.

When you create your characters, you'll create the denizens of whatever countries you decide to pick from and you'll immediately establish what your connections are to each other as you go through character creation and how you know each other and how you're encountered and what you're doing.

And then the next section is that your character will be or your characters and your campaign will be built around your vehicle and that's something that I'm working on this chapter right now.

It's going to be the second phase of character creation after everybody has created their characters they'll then get to customize their vehicle and it will be a little bit of like I'm gonna do this, I think this should be there so that you have a vehicle that becomes the heart and soul of the campaign and so it isn't just a way to get from point A to point B it's got its own personality and its own set of funky you know it could have flaws that could have quirks it could have some defects and getting it improved and better is probably going to be a huge part of the story arc or the campaign arc and as a result, it creates an emotional tie to the like all of the players feel like they're sort of invested in this vehicle.

And the vehicular combat system will also be one where I'm or it is one where everybody should be doing something because you know if your airship is in battle with another airship you're running around in the bag they're you know trying to fix bullet holes and whatnot well you know somebody is in the engine room banging on things and so it has a lot of collaboration.

Welcome to Toxandria

A land of intrigue, a land of magic, a land of fallen empire, where bold souls set out in search of fame, fortune, and ADVENTURE

The Setting

In the North, a long wall separates the Known World from Beyond. In the South, the crumbled remains of a worldspanning empire. To the West, the raging, endless sea. To the East, the wind-swept, endless steppes.

Islands of civilization and plenty are separated by wild places and the sea. The Imperial Mile and the Great East Road still run straight and true, built so cunningly by the Baessesseans that no blade of grass grows between their stones, but to either side is wilderness and monster-haunted ruin. It is said by the lore-masters in the Geabez Enclave that great and mysterious magics and artifacts lie in old Baessessean ruins, along with heaps of gold and jewels, there for bold and hardy souls to claim.

At the center of it all is the city of Ereslus, home to the various factions that contend for power.

This is the World as we know it. This is Toxandria: the Three Kingdoms, in which dwell the Free Peoples.

The Game

Based on Chaosium Inc.'s Basic Roleplaying OGL, Toxandria is not just a setting, it's also a complete game! The rules are simple, easy to learn, and tried and tested through decades of play in a multitude of formats. The tweaks we've made to make Toxandria special are minimal, and have been thoroughly tested.

Toxandrian characters are custom-tailored to a player's concept. Professions specifically designed to evoke the setting's flavor are included, as well as form-fillable PDF character sheets!

The Foes section includes dozens of monsters and villains for you to custom-tailor your Toxandria game. The setting lore section includes dozens of NPCs, locations, adventure ideas, and story hooks for your group to begin spinning fantastic tales at once. Ready-made adventures are forthcoming; keep an eye on Kabouter Games to stay informed!
